Following the inaugural conference of the Australian Industrial Ecology Network (AIEN) held in July 2009, the 2nd Australasian Industrial Ecology Conference will be held at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney from 2 – 3 September 2010.

The conference aims to promote the practice of industrial ecology (IE) in Australia and showcase leading examples practiced in Australia and internationally.  This conference is designed to contribute towards the following objectives of the AIEN:

  1. Encourage the practice of IE in Australia
  2. Interact with Government to facilitate IE
  3. Liaise with international organisations involved with IE
  4. Develop knowledge and tools for IE

The theme of this year’s conference is 'Resource Recovery…the way forward'

The conference will be of particular interest to:

  • Industries: Oil, Gas, Mining and Mineral Processing, Metals, Chemicals, Building Materials, Power Generators, Construction, Manufacturing, Packaging, Food & Beverage
  • Agencies: Australian Greenhouse Office, State and Federal Departments of Planning, State and Federal Departments of Environment, State and Federal Departments of Primary Industry and State and Federal Departments of Sustainability, CSIRO, ANSTO and Universities
  • Service Providers: Environmental Lawyers, Environmental Consultants, Engineers and Accountants
